Welcome!!

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome to my 1st Grade Class! First grade is an exciting time as children embark upon new adventures in the world of learning. This is a year of important transitions, as well as one in which the acquisition of new skills is accelerated. I hope to make your child’s learning experience a fun and exciting one, and I hope to instill a love of learning that will last throughout your child’s life.

So much happens in First Grade and because of this, the year will be full of new skill building and one where your child will become a more independent learner and thinker. Don't forget to keep in mind that we all build on small successes. Each child will progress at his/her own rate, acquiring skills as he/she is developmentally ready. Maintaining each child's self-esteem and building a secure foundation for future growth will always remain a priority in our First Grade.

I believe education is a very critical part of life long success.  Along with that, I believe that all children can learn and succeed.  With the right support and tools, I will help my students not only master this year's content, but be prepared and confident for next year as well.  In order to help make this happen, I also encourage you to be as involved as you can possibly be this year.  Parents are a child’s first educator and I believe if we work together it will help your child to strive to meet their greatest learning potential this year.  You can expect open communication and understanding from me.  I will also be willing to assist you and your child with any education concern or conflict you may have.

I can be contacted several different ways throughout the year.  Via email at [email protected] or by phone at 512.282.7739 or 512.282.8239.  If you are calling, please leave a message and the office staff can get it to me.  My planning period is from 2:00-3:00 each day and this is the best time for me to return your calls or emails.  I will aslo send home a weekly newsletter each Monday, which will be filled with information about our week!

I am so excited about having your child in my class and am looking forward to a great school year!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Hagarty
